A glitch fare took me to Portugal pt 4

get some zzzz

Whatever type of accommodation you prefer, you'll be able to find it in Lisbon. I met other travellers who were staying in hotels, hostels, Airbnb etc and not a single complaint.

I stayed at Vincci Liberdade off Avenida da Liberdade (Lisbon's equivalent of Paris' Avenue des Champs-Élysées) and LOVED it.

The minimalist boutique hotel opened in 2015 and is very well run. I have a strong preference for boutique hotels when travelling, as the level of service tends to be higher and Vincci Liberdade delivered. It is quiet, spotless and not on the highest hill in the city.

The rooms are pretty big by European standards and well equipped. My room had a large and comfortable bed (there's even a pillow menu!), along with plenty of space for luggage, robe + slippers and a full set of quality toiletries. If you forget anything, you'll be more than ok at Vincci Liberdade.

I really don't have anything negative to say about the hotel, especially after they let me check in 3 hours early *grateful*. I'd definitely stay there again.

Added bonus: It is close to Marquês de Pombal square and metro station (maybe a 2 minute walk at most), which is very convenient for
getting around.

I didn’t switch my accommodations since I loved where I was, but here are some areas I would recommend staying in:

  • Avenida da Liberdade-my obvious choice, it’s Lisbon’s answer to Champs-Élysées in Paris. Very safe, upscale with high end hotels and restaurants.

  • Alfama-it attracts a lot of tourists, but the old world charm is undeniable.

  • Bairro Alto-I would say it’s a mix of Parkdale and Queen West if you’re familiar with Toronto, but with a more bohemian vibe and fairly diverse crowd. Do not stay here if you want peace and quiet!

  • Chiado-perfect for museums lover, high end designer shopping and mainly high end accommodations.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading-I appreciate it :)
